Course Description
Students in Online Multiplayer Gaming learn how to move beyond creating single player games and into multiplayer game development. In terms of programming, multiplayer game development poses a number of new challenges. To overcome these challenges, students will start to understand how to communicate asynchronously over the web, the logistics behind running a server on any PC, and how to store video game data in the cloud by using Python, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
Learning Objectives
When students complete Online Multiplayer Gaming Capstone, they will be able to:
- Communicate asynchronously between computers
- Understand the role of Python, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript in video game development
- Use cloud storage to store video game data
Prerequisites
These courses must be completed before Online Multiplayer Gaming Capstone:
- Wizard Level I
- Wizard Level 2, Course 1 : User Interface Development
- Wizard Level 2, Course 2 : Mastering Databases
- Wizard Level 2, Course 3 : Application Programming Interfaces
Class Schedule
All students start in Animation and Gaming in Scratch at Wizard Level I. If you have previous coding experience, take the Advanced Placement test. Returning students can continue with the class where they left off.
