Course Description
In this course, designed as a continuation of Intro to Python, students will use AI to enhance their final project by incorporating hand gesture detection. They will begin by learning the basics of Artificial Intelligence, including what AI is and how AI models are created. Utilizing Google’s Teachable Machine, they will develop and export custom AI models that enable player movement in their game through hand gestures. The course also covers techniques for troubleshooting common issues and refining AI models for improved performance. This course is ideal for students eager to broaden their skills and explore the exciting realm of Artificial Intelligence.
Learning Objectives
When students complete Wizard Survival with AI Gesture Detection, they will be able to:
- Create and export custom AI models using Google’s Teachable Machine.
- Improve AI models by testing, refining, and expanding them for increased accuracy, including adding new classes and developing more complex models.
- Incorporate AI features into Python projects to recognize hand gestures and movements.
Prerequisites
These courses must be completed before Wizard Survival with AI Gesture Detection:
- Wizard Level 1, Course 1 : Intro to Python
-
1. Creating an AI Model
In this lesson, students delve into the exciting world of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence by building an AI model using Google’s Teachable Machine and integrating it into the CodeWizardsHQ editor. They enhance the Wizard Survival game from the Intro to Python course by enabling hand gestures to control their wizard’s movements. By the end of the lesson, students gain a strong foundation in AI model creation, preparing them to apply these skills to their project in the next lesson.
-
2. Implementing an AI model with code
In this lesson, students expand their skills by integrating the AI model they previously created with Teachable Machine, which was designed to recognize hand gestures. This lesson focuses on adding logic to detect specific gestures and using conditional statements to update the player’s position based on those gestures. Through this process, students gain valuable experience in programming AI models and learn how to seamlessly incorporate them into their projects.
Class Schedule
All students start in Intro to Programming with Python at Wizard Level I. If you have previous coding experience, take the Placement test to skip ahead. Returning students can continue with the class where they left off.
