This immersive experience takes kids beyond the basics as they unravel the mysteries of Redstone and advance to build logic gates themselves, similar to what real electrical engineers create!

By the end of this camp, students will not only grasp the intricacies of Redstone but will wield the knowledge to create an array of thrilling Redstone projects, turning their Minecraft adventures into an exploration of coding brilliance. Elevate their summer with the magic of Redstone Logic!

For Ages 11-13
Beginners welcome. No Homework – All fun!

Learning Objectives

When students complete Intro to Redstone Logic in Minecraft they will have learned:
  • 1 Basics of redstone and its various components
  • 2 Redstone logic that can be used in and beyond the Minecraft game
  • 3 How redstone logic can be applied to real world programming

Minecraft Coding Camp Lessons

Day 1 –

Redstone Basics

In this first lesson, students begin to understand the basics of redstone components. This includes how to activate, position, and extend redstone blocks. By the end of this lesson, students will have built a fort that has redstone-powered traps to protect against mobs!

Day 2 –

The Redstone Comparator

In this lesson, students to learn more about the redstone comparator, a redstone component used to maintain, compare, or subtract signal strength, or to measure certain block states. They’ll create projects such as a chest fullness detector and fireworks machine. This helps students better understand the uses of comparators, and how they can improve their Minecraft experience.

Day 3 –

Basics of Logic Gates

In this lesson, we introduce logic gates using Redstone components. Students will create multiple different versions of locking doors using daylight detectors, lecterns, and levers. They will also implement logic gates such as the AND gate and the OR gate in order to make these doors more secure.

Day 4 –

Advanced Redstone Logic Gates

In this lesson, students build on their experience with logic gates by building bigger, more advanced ones. They will create exciting projects, which include a TNT trap, available room detector, and an upgraded daylight door. These more advanced logic gates include the NOR, NAND, and XOR gates.

Day 5 –

Working with Command Blocks

In this final lesson, students begin to use command blocks to make a monster gauntlet. They learn basic commands to summon monsters into their game and change some game settings. They will also learn about the different types of command blocks and how they can help make exciting mini-games!

Technical Requirements

Before the start of camp, students should meet the following requirements:

  • Be familiar with basics of Minecraft game
  • Have all required class technology
  • Minecraft for the PC is required for the class. Purchase it here or check with your student if this is the version they already have.

Parents & Students Love The CodeWizardsHQ Summer Program!

Boy at coding camp

Great Program That Really Teaches Coding

Our 13 year old took this program over the summer and really enjoyed it. He found it challenging and fun at the same time. He thought it was a bit more difficult than typical middle school coding programs but that’s what kept him engaged. This wasn’t glorified babysitting, this program really taught him to do some coding. – Travis

Great Experience!

My son enrolled in the beginner class for Python Programming. It was great! He learned a lot and it was nice that all lectures are recorded since there were a few days he had to miss during the summer. – Sima Patel
