In this extension of our Animation and Games with Scratch course, students will dive into Artificial Intelligence and prompt engineering to enhance their Lesson 1 and 2 projects. They’ll use free AI tools to generate custom images and music, learning techniques like crafting identity prompts, adding specificity, and using descriptive modifiers to get the desired results. This course is perfect for kids excited to elevate their coding projects and explore the world of AI and prompt engineering!

Learning Objectives

When students complete Intro to AI Prompting, they will be able to:

  • Use free AI tools to generate custom images and songs by applying fundamental AI prompt engineering principles.
  • Develop detailed and effective AI prompts using techniques such as identity prompts, specificity, and descriptive modifiers.
  • Integrate AI-generated content seamlessly into their Scratch projects to enhance creativity and storytelling.

    1. Generating Images with AI Prompts

    In this lesson, students expand on their project from Lesson 1 of Animation and Games with Scratch by designing a custom Moon base and adding it as a sprite. They use AI prompt engineering techniques, such as style modifiers, quality boosters, and weighted terms, to create a unique, detailed image. By the end of the lesson, students gain a basic understanding of AI prompt engineering and how it can enhance the creation of more detailed and engaging images.

    2. Generating Music with AI Prompts

    In this second lesson, students enhance their Lesson 2 project from Animation and Games with Scratch by adding a song to their greeting card. They explore advanced AI music generation tools while learning about structure prompting, emotion prompting, and role prompting. This provides them with a basic understanding of how to create a fully customized AI-generated songs.

Class Schedule

All students start in Animation and Gaming in Scratch at Wizard Level I. If you have previous coding experience, take the Placement test to skip ahead. Returning students can continue with the class where they left off.
